Leaning on the Everlasting Arms

Many are familiar with the old hymn leaning on the everlasting arms, but do you meditate on the words of the song. It tells us we have a fellowship, a divine joy, a blessedness and a peace of mine from leaning on the everlasting arms!" We read the scripture that tells us about God’s everlasting arms in Deut. 33:27 which says, The eternal God is your refuge, andunderneath are the everlasting arms. He will drive out your enemies before you, saying, ‘Destroy them!’

First, I want us to see The Strength of God’s Arms

The word "everlasting" reminds us that God's strength has no limit. He does not grow tired. He is not overwhelmed. Isaiah 40:28 says, "The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary. “When we feel weak, God remains strong.

2 Corinthians 12:9, tells us "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness."

It’s just like a child who falls asleep in the arms of their parent does so without fear, because they trust those arms to hold them. Likewise, we can rest in the assurance of God's strength of his arms.

Secondly, we must Rely on God’s Strength of His arms, inChallenges, Anchoring Yourself in God's Stability

• When you face difficulties, read Isaiah 40:31: which says that those who hope for the Lord will renew their strength.

• Instead of trying to carry every burden alone, pray and surrender your struggles to God, trusting that His strength is enough.

• Begin each day asking God to strengthen you spiritually, emotionally, and physically.

• Anchor yourself in truth Hebrews 13:8: Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever.

And lastly, God gave us His Son who also stretched out His arms for us as sinners and saved us from sin and has given us a hope of eternal life when he hung on that cross. Jesus is:

• Strong enough to carry every burden,

• Safe enough to protect us from every storm,

• Supportive enough to hold us through every trial,

• Steadfast enough to never let us go.

Today we need to make sure we are leaning on those everlasting arms.
