EASTER!
There were a lot of people in a lot of churches on Sunday, that might not normally go to church due to the Easter holiday. I know we had several visitors on Sunday, and we really enjoyed having visitors. Easter is often referred to as resurrection Sunday and always follows what we refer to as “Good Friday” which would be referring to the day of Jesus’s crucifixion. Jesus brought so many good things during his ministry, probably the most significant is that He brought forgiveness of sins. He brought the good news of salvation.
Jesus brought even more after his resurrection. At His resurrection, He became more real than He had ever been, even to those who were close to Him. Their faith and our faith were made complete when He rose from the grave, all of what He had done and demonstrated, now it was clearer than ever, He really was the Son of God! His relationship with his followers is personal and very real. In John 20 we see that He knew Mary Magdalene by her name. If you’re a child of His, He knows your name. John 10:3 is referred to as the Good Shepard who calls His sheep by name. God knows your name, isn’t that wonderful!
Also, it was at this point that God’s eternal purpose for man was reiterated and confirmed.
Death has no more dominion; Christ broke the chains of sin and death. Guess what he gave you and I the same power.1 Corinthians 15:55 says, O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? V 56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is in the law. V 57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. The man Adam brought death; the man Jesus brought life. John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Unless Jesus returns before we die, we all will be resurrected to stand before the judgement seat of Christ! Are you ready for that day?
