Deep waters!
Isaiah 43:2 reads, When thou pass through the waters, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walk through the fire, thou shall not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon you. VS 3 For I am the Lord thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Savior. Often, we go through things in life that are hard to deal with. These vary from broken relationships, or maybe financial problems and the worst of all, health problems of ourselves or maybe the health problems of a loved one. When we go through these, they often test our faith. I remember hearing a preacher say one time that Job didn’t really know God until the end of the book of Job. Being young in the faith, I questioned that statement; I referenced back to chapter one and verse one where it says that Job feared God and eschewed evil. But as I studied more and processed the book of Job, I came to understand that preacher was right.
For most people that make the decision to serve God, it’s not too hard until you’re going through the deep waters. We see how Job went through all these things, losing his children, losing his wealth, even losing his health. Satan told God that Job’s loyalty was based upon all that he had around him. God proved Satan wrong. Now obviously Job became weary at times as anyone would. Job even question God at times and ask where he was. Job felt abandoned by God. In Job chapter 38:16-18 this is part of God’s response to Job’s questioning of God. VS 16 Have you journeyed to the springs of the sea or walked in the recesses of the deep? VS 17 Have the gates of death been show to you. Have you seen the gates of the deepest darkness? VS 18 Have you comprehended the vast expanses of the earth? Tell me if you know all this. You see folks there is a lot of things that we don’t know that God knows. Often when we’re in unchartered waters is when our dependences upon God grows. In these times we come to know that God is God when we’re standing on the mountain and when we’re going through a valley!
