Ye are the Light of the World

I remember as a young boy going coon hunting with some friends and suddenly my flashlight went out. The darkness surrounded me, and I couldn’t see inches in front or behind me. If it wasn’t for the light that my friends shared, I would have been lost in the darkness and would have never made it back home safely, I was so grateful. Have you ever experienced darkness in your spiritual walk? Has there been a friend that came along and gave you just a glimpse of spiritual light. This is what we as Christians are to do for others as we read in Matthew 5:14-16,Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Our spiritual light not only gives comfort to those in darkness, but it glorifies our Father which is in heaven.

The scriptures tell us in Ephesians 5:8 that there is a time in our Christian walk that we will be confronted with darkness, but we must remain walking in the light of the Lord, it says, For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:

We must keep ourselves blameless and be that shining light in this crooked and perverse nation, Philippians 2:14 says, Do all things without murmurings and disputings:15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;

One thing we must all remember, is where do we find this spiritual light and whom does it come from? We can get the answer in 2 Corinthians 4:6,  For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

I pray that we all may give off that shining light, that God wants us to be, to share with others around us. I ask of you to help others out of their spiritual darkness by holding up your spiritual light with love and compassion.
