The Importance of Perseverance!
Most of us have experienced times in our lives when we realize the need for perseverance. For example, a mother of a newborn baby. I think about her being tired from her pregnancy and now the baby has arrived. With all the excitement and joy comes all the responsibility of caring for a new baby. Such as, being up all hours of the night feeding the infant and attending to its needy cries. It takes a lot of perseverance to raise a child over the course of its lifetime. Not only mentally but also physically, there must be a lot of inner strength to do it.
The definition of perseverance is the persistence in doing something despite the difficulty or delay in achieving success. The bible talks about this concept a lot as it pertains to our spiritual conquest.
I would like to look at just a few biblical examples. Psalms 62:1-2 says, “I wait quietly before the God, for my victory comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will never be shaken.”
1 Chronicles 16:11 reads, “Search for the Lord and for his strength continually seek Him.” Also, in James 1:12, “Blessed is the one who perseveres under trail because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.”
Just like the mother which has that inner strength, motivated by her love and bond to her child, gives her perseverance to carry on, in the most challenging of circumstances. We as Christians must also be motivated by our love for God, that in every trail and tribulation, being able to look beyond that. Let us seek to have perseverance until we have obtained our eternal inheritance.
