The Second Coming of Christ!

The epistle to the Thessalonians is unique, in that every chapter ends with a reference to the second coming of Christ. 1 Thess. l:10 says, “And to wait for his son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus which delivered from the wrath of God.”

The Christians at Thessalonica were becoming discouraged and being led to believe that Christ wasn't coming back by false teachers. Paul wrote the first and second epistles to encourage these brethren and to remind them that the Lord stands good on His promises. Paul wanted them to know that there will be a difference between those who accept and those that reject God upon Christ's return. 1 Thess. 2:19 ask the questions, “For what is our hope or joy or crown of rejoicing? Are not even you in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?” We live what we believe.

1 Thess. 5:23 “And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

We must never forget that it is God who qualifies us for the kingdom. The following scriptures tell us:

Giving thanks unto the father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light.” (Col. l:12)

Inflaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that they obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power.” (2 Thess. 1:8-9)

It's sad to think about never being able to be in the presence of God, and even worse to think that one will enter everlasting destruction.

Are you prepared for the second coming of Christ?
