The Power of the Resurrection

Knowing The Power of His Resurrection Depends on Our Faith. We read in Philippians 3:8-10 “Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith – 10that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death.”

The Power of the Resurrection Gives Us Hope if We Believe and Follow His Commandments. We can see this in the following verses, 2 Corinthians 4:14 “knowing that He who raised up the Lord Jesus will also raise us up with Jesus and will present us with you.” 1Corinthians 6:14 “And God both raised up the Lord and will also raise us up by His power.” 1Peter 1:3 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,” John 11:25-26 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. 26And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”

The Power of the Resurrection Gives Hope Beyond the Grave.  I Thessalonians 4:13-18 tells us of that hope, “But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. 14For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus 15For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. 16For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus, we shall always be with the Lord. 18Therefore comfort one another with these words. What comforting words this is that we don’t have to fear death.”

The Power of the Resurrection Assures us that Christ Will Come Again. Even once death comes to us, we will see Christ again. We read of this assurance in Acts 1:9-11 “Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. 10And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, 11who also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.”

In conclusion, we all would be without hope if there was no resurrection, meaning that the grave could contain us. Because Christ was willing to pay our sin debt on that cruel cross and then he was raised from the dead on the third day, we have that same promise. We to will be resurrected someday to stand before the judgement seat of Christ, at which time we will receive a righteous judgement. Are you ready for that day?
