What the Blood of Christ Has Done for Us

We see how important blood is in the Old and New Testament, because of its relationship to life, blood signifies the supreme offering to God.

God's holiness and justice demand that sin be punished.  The only penalty or payment for sin is eternal death.  The offering of an animal and even our own death are not sufficient sacrifices to pay for sin.  Atonement requires a perfect, spotless sacrifice, offered in just the right way, that being Jesus Christ.

The Blood of Jesus has power to Redeem Us.  We see this in Ephesians 1:7, “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace;” and also in Hebrews 9:12, “Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption.”

The Blood of Jesus Christ can Reconcile us to God.  Romans 3:25 says, “Whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed.”

The Precious Blood of Jesus Christ Paid Our Ransom.  1 Peter 1:18-19, “18knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, 19but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:”

Because of the Blood of Jesus Christ, it Washes Away our Sins:  1 John 1:7 “But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.”

Forgives us of our Sins:  Hebrews 9:22 “Indeed, under the law almost everything is purifies with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.”

Freed us from our Sins:  Revelation 1:5 “And from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of kings on earth.  To Him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by His blood.”

Jesus Christ shed his blood for us for many reasons and because of his unselfishness we can find peace.  In Col. 1:19-20 “we are taken to that cross were peace was made for us:  For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in Heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross.”

If you are looking for peace, I pray that you seek Jesus Christ, so that his shedding of his precious blood would not have been done in vain.
