“Fix It Jesus”

Most of us are guilty when we find ourselves dwelling in the valleys of our lives, rather large or small, and our prayer request is often “fix it Jesus.” Once Jesus answers our prayer we automatically start focusing on the next “fix it” request. As Believers we often cry out for Jesus’ help, which is the Believers blessing, but do we say in return “Thank You Jesus” with the same passion.

Not giving thanks is vain and sinful. In Romans 1:21 it tells us, “Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.”

Jesus was ask to “Fix It” often in the Bible, some examples are:

Two Blind Men – Matthew 9:27-31

Woman with the Issue of Blood – Matthew 9:20-22

Dumb and Possessed Man – Matthew 9:32-33

Man with a Withered Hand – Matthew 12:10-13

Canaanite Woman’s Daughter – Matthew 15:21-28

Boy with Epilepsy – Matthew 17:14-21

One story comes to mind….that being the story of the ten leopards in Luke 17:11-19.

The ten leopards were vexed with leprosy and stood afar off. As Jesus passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee, they lifted their voices asking Jesus to have mercy on them. Jesus said unto them, “Go shew yourselves unto the priests.” They did as Jesus had requested and was healed. Notice that all were cleansed but there was one that came back. It says in verse 15-16, “And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God. 16 And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.” The leopard could have gone his way just like the other nine but his heart was right. Jesus saw this and in verse 19 he tells the leopard, “Arise, go thy way thy faith hath made thee whole.” All ten leopards obeyed Jesus and did as he had told them and was cleansed, but only one had a grateful heart and counted his blessing and was saved.

We can all learn a lesson from this one leopard. Let us all remember when asking for Jesus to “fix” something for us, don’t forget to give him the thanks he deserves.

Let us remember the verse I Thess. 5:16-18 “Rejoice always, 17Pray continually, 18Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
