You are Invited
We can read of DIVINE INVITAION examples in the Bible.....
GOD INVITED SINNERS in Isa 1:18-19 “18 Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the Lord, “Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Thought they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool. 19 If you are willing and obedient, You shall eat the good of the land.”
God was offering forgiveness of sins to those willing to obey.
GOD also INVITED THE DESTITUTE as we are told in Isa 55:1-3 “1 Ho! Everyone who thirsts, Come to the waters; And you who have no money, Come, buy and eat. Yes, come, by wine and milk Without money and without price. 2 Why do you spend money for what is not bread, And your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, And let your soul delight itself in abundance. 3 Incline your ear, and come to Me, Hear, and your sould shall live; And I will make an everlasting convenant with you the sure mercies of David.
The invitation was offered to those willing to hear that which will truly satisfy the soul.
JESUS INVITES THE WEARY AND HEAVY LADEN...Matt. 11:28-30 “28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
Jesus offers spiritual rest for those willing to become His disciples.
THE HOLY SPIRIT INVITES THE THIRSTY...Rev. 22:17 “17And the Spirit and the bride say, 'Come!' And let him who hears say, 'Come!' And let him who thirsts come Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely.”
This invitation is to all who desire the water of life.
We see examples of HUMAN INVITATIONS AS PROPHESIED in: Isa 2:1-3 The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem. Now it shall come to pass in the latter days That the mountain of the Lord's house Shall be established on the top of the mountains and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow to it. 3 Many people shall come and say, “Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, He will teach us His ways, And we shall walk in His paths.” For out of Zion shall go forth the law, And the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
As foreseen by Isaiah, many would invite their friends to learn about God, We see this practiced by eample from Andrew, who invited Peter to meet Jesus – John 1:40-42 By Philip, who invited Nathaniel to meet Jesus in John 1:43-46. By the Samaritan woman, who invited her neighbors seen in John 4:28-30. Also by Matthew who gave a feast to introduce Jesus – Luke 5:27-29. And finally by Cornelius, who invited his family and friends to hear Peter – Acts 10: 24, 33.
There is POWER OF AN INVITATION
We have seen it work when God and Jusus extended their invitaion, and souls were saved. The disciples extended invitations and won souls to Christ! Most people today have been saved by receiving an invitation.
I want to extend to you and invitation NOW to COME to Christ Jesus today. In Matt 11:28 Jesus says, Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
