DVD

We had an interesting experience Sunday evening at the small congregation in Roswell New Mexico. There were four older saints that were present for evening services, a man and three women. We had sung, and they asked us to lead the prayers. But for the lesson, they had a DVD of Dee Bowman who preaches in Texas. I never was at a service where this has taken place, but it worked well for the this small group with their limited abilities. Dee preached on Matthew chapter 7, about being careful in different ways. They have someone who comes on Sunday mornings to preach, but they use the DVD on Sunday evening service. Thank God for modern technology that can help saints in various ways. The saints there were very glad for our coming. It was a blessing for us to visit and encourage them. Even though they are small in number, they still are trying to carry on in the work and service of the Lord. Only one man to do all the prayers, song leading, the offering, teach the class, make the announcements. (There is another male member but he is 100 years old, and not able to be out much now) So may we be thankful that we have a number of men to help in various ways in leading the services here. I was encouraged much to be in their midst, to see their faith in action. To keep on keeping on, staying focused on serving God. To be earnest in following the exhortation of Rev.2:10, "be thou faithful unto to death, and I will give thee the crown of life." It was a joy to share in our common faith in Christ. In talking with these brethren, I found that there were several common connections in the church. As some say, "It's a small world." Or what one person said, "We have a big family in the church." Amen. Not hard to talk with brethren, whom you soon find a connection with others in the Lord's church. What a blessing, that ties us together in Christ!
