Fornication

Let us study a common problem that is prevalent in our society and even sometimes among the people of God, it is the problem of fornication. Let’s begin by noticing I Thes.4:3-8, “For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication: That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour; Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God: That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified. For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness. He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit.” It is God’s will that we abstain from fornication. This term fornication refers to immorality in general. We in particular wish to address, the premarital sexual relationship that folks get involved in. It is rather astounding the percentage of high school age children that are sexually active in fornication. There is also a surprising number of people that just “shack up” and “live together” in the state of fornication. Yet, it still is a sin, no matter how many do it! God will condemn to hell everyone who fails to repent of this wicked, and find his forgiveness; Hebrews 13:4, “Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.” The best advice on the temptation to commit this sin, “Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.” I Cor.6:18
