Intelligentsia
I was some C-Span the other day and the comment was made about the "Intelligentsia" of our country. The word is defined to mean, the people who regard themselves as the educated and enlighten class. Now there is nothing wrong with intelligence or with education. But the problem with both intelligence and education is that many have become puffed up and have rejected God. I think Paul spoke about people like this, "Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools." Rom.1:21-22. The class of folks who are considered themselves the "Intelligentsia" of our country have certainly rejected God in their thinking. We see the warped thinking of many of these folks in the realm of moral and spiritual issues. Many in Hollywood and in higher education, who think of themselves as brilliant, are really only fools, "Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools." And this is because they have rejected God as Creator. So much irrational thinking then comes into the mind set of people who reject God. The "Intelligentsia" has warp, twisted views on topics like abortion, homosexuality, lesbianism, capital punishment, work ethic, the causes of societal woes, womens role in the home, the environment, euthanasia, the origin of the world and man, ad nauseam. We need the awareness of God, all real wisdom will begin there. "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction." Prov.1:7. When you start out fundamentally wrong, you will always end up wrong! This is the problem with the "Intelligentsia", they started have out wrong, their assumption, that there is no God. "The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good." And so in their thinking and teachings we see their foolish reasoning spouted and spewed on TV, in political circles, on College campuses across our great land and throughout the world.
