Church Bar

I was watching the Travel Channel the other day and heard an interesting phrase. The hostess was traveling in Spain, and she went into a bar do get a drink before she went to the hotel for the night. Some bars have particular themes, such as a "Sports Bar" that may have all kinds of sports memorabilia of a particular sports team. Or you may have a "Racing Bar" that the decor is around some type of racing, like horse racing, car racing, etc. But this bar in Spain had all kinds of religious items as the decor. Statues and pictures depicting Mary, Jesus and Biblical events. The hostess called the drinking establishment a "Church Bar." Of course in Spain as in many countries, Catholicism has a great sway and influence in its culture and society. They endorse drinking of alcohol and booze, as long as you dont get "bombed out drunk." Of course the Bible teaches that we are neither to get "bombed out drunk" nor "half looped" nor should we just be a social drinker. "For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries." I Pet.4:3. "Excess of wine" is the "bombed out drunk." "Revellings"is the person who is "half looped." And the one who is "banquetings" is the social drinker. All 3 categories of drinking booze is associated with the will of the Gentiles. Having a religious theme as your decor, is not going to justify all the sins committed at this establishment. A "Church Bar" no more acceptable than a "Church Brothel" or a "Church Casino" or a "Church Horoscope." People who make a sham of the religion of Jesus Christ, have no respect for our Lord and His word. Actions like these is a unacceptable for every soul that loves Gods Son and his teachings.
