Salvation has been brought down!

We often sing the song salvation has been brought down. It’s a beautiful song reminding us of the importance of what was provided by God through his son, who he sent to this low land of sin and sorrow, so that we might have eternal salvation. Christ in his ministry gave us an example of how we ought to live and conduct ourselves.  He was persecuted, mocked and ridiculed by those who opposed him and yet he lived a sinless life.

John 3:16 says, For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. V 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

The gift of Jesus Christ, His sacrifice on the cross is the only way we get atonement from our sins and reconcile humanity with God. The problem was sin, man’s sin separated him from God resulting in spiritual death, resulting in the need for redemption. Romans 5:12 tells us, Wherefore, as by one man sin entered the world, and death by sin; and so, death passed upon all men, for all have sinned: Romans 3:23 All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. So, because we are in the flesh we all have a sin nature, which traces back to Adam and Eve in the garden of whom we all are descendants. So, it is in our nature to want that which is contrary to the will of God. Sin is against God, sin is the opposite of righteousness, James 1:13-15 reminds us, Let no man say when he is tempted that he is tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempted he any man: V14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. V 15 When lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished bringeth forth death.

So, God sent forth his son that we might have forgiveness of sins. It’s by his goodness and mercy that we access salvation. The glory be to God.
