See that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise

These words were pinned by the apostle Paul to the church at Ephesus. The word circumspect is not used in everyday vocabulary but is worth looking at. Merriam Webster dictionary defines this word circumspectly like this. Careful to consider all circumstances and possible consequences. Webster’s New International dictionary defines it as (Marked by caution and earnest attention to significant circumstances and possible consequences of action, and usually by prudence and discretion.)

God shows what to do:

Eph. 5:1 Be you followers of God, as his dear children.

Eph. 5:2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us

Eph. 5:8 Walk as children of light.

5:14 Awake thou that sleep

Eph. 5:16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

Eph. 5:17 Understand the will of God

Eph. 5:18 Singing and making melody in heart to the Lord.

Eph. 5:20 Giving thanks always unto God…

God says what not to do:

Eph. 5:3 But fornications and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints;

Eph. 5:4 neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting.

Eph. 5:5 For this you know, that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.

Eph. 5:6-7 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. Therefore, do not be partakers with them.

Eph. 5:11 Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness.

Eph. 5:12 don’t speak of the things done in darkness.

Eph. 5:18 don’t drink

We are all cautious when we walk upon this earthly sod, being very careful not to fall. We are aware of the dangers of an injury if we fall. How much more important is it to pay close attention to how we walk spiritually, so that we do not fall and sustain a spiritual injury, that would be everlasting.

Ephesians 5:15-17 says it best, See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise,16redeeming the time, because the days are evil. 17Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.
