Drunkarexia

I heard a new word this week called "Drunkarexia" or "Drunkorexia". It is that many young college age females are not eating to reduce calorie intake during the day, so they can consume booze in the evening. The thinking is that you get drunk faster since you do not have food on your stomach. And since you have not consumed food calories during the day, the calories from drinking beer, wine, etc. will be less overall and thus help you keep weight off your body. The dilemma is they are not considering the long term health problems that can come from these actions. And of course these folks are not perceiving the spiritual problems that comes from consuming booze. The wise man said, "Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise." Peter says we have wasted enough time in doing the will of the Gentiles, let us now use our time doing the will of God. "That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God. For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:" Peter uses the three phases of alcohol use. The bombed out drunk, who is overflowing with booze. The ½ drunk person who is big mouthed and acting out in riotous, boisterous behavior. And then those guilty of drinking parties, that is, having a few to be socially acceptable at the party. But in every phase of intoxication, it is the will of the Gentiles, those who practice such. So if you get intoxicated the slower method on a full stomach of food, or in a faster fashion as in the "Drunkarexia" method, the end result is the same, doing the will of the Gentiles, following the path of sin and wickedness. Let us be sober and clear headed!
