The Relevant Word
One of the amazing things about the Bible is that is always relevant to the needs of man. It is a book that never becomes outdated. It works in every society were men live, to address our needs, and to direct us in the path of righteousness. Consider 3 facts.
#1 God does not change. In Mal.3:6, For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed. Again in Heb.13:8, AJesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
#2 The word of God does not change. Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you. 1 Pet.1:23-25.
#3 People have not change. Consider what Paul said, And saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and preach unto you that ye should turn from these vanities unto the living God, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that are therein: Acts 14:15. Also, Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. Jam.5:17. An old testament prophet, new testament prophets, a new testament apostle, and pagan worshipers, are all described as men of like passions. Folks have not changed through the centuries, and across the continents.
When God confounded the language and speech of men in Gen.11:7, he did not change the essence and nature of human beings, just his language. This is why this ancient book that we carry around and study, is always just as relevant today, as when the folks in the first century read those letters addressed to them! Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15.
