Six Pack

One time while in Ohio, Doy Moyer was telling about an item he had seen at the Berean Bookstore. He described a little container, sort of like a one of those little single serving coffee creamer containers, like you see in restaurants; that contains grape juice. On top of this little container is a little bread wafer, that is covered also with a plastic film. They come in a "Six pack," sort of a "communion to go." (Albert and I had to stop to see it for ourselves.) I suppose some use it as communion service to be taken to folks who are sick at home or in the hospital. Or some may use it for those who are on the go, and would like to take the "sacraments," down on the lake, or while they are on vacation, or stop at a rest area while they are traveling and take this communion on the go. No need to plan to assemble and worship with the saints, just pick up a "Six pack" next time you are out. But it appears to me that God has ordained that the Lord’s Supper is to be done when the saints come together to worship. In Acts 20:7 we read, "And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight." In I Cor.11:17-34 Paul talks about the saints coming together 5 times in those verses about the Lord’s Supper. The assembly is where the saints are to eat the Lord’s supper. I don’t know about you, but I plan to assemble with the saints as these passages indicate, to commune with the body and the blood of the Lord as I eat the bread and drink the cup. I’m not looking for some short cut to obedience, so there will be no need for me to pick up a "Six pack" on the way home.
