Boring?

A little while back I was talking to a brother and he related a story he had recently read in the newspaper. A certain denominational preacher was interviewed, and one of the things he said, he was not going to bore people with the Bible. Is the Bible really BORING? Let's notice this mindset for a few moments.

You know when you study people, you learn that folks don't really change as you look back over history. Thinking about the above attitude about the word of God, I'm reminded of what the prophet said in Malachi 1:12-13, But ye have profaned it, in that ye say, The table of the LORD is polluted; and the fruit thereof, even his meat, is contemptible. Ye said also, Behold, what a weariness is it! and ye have snuffed at it, saith the LORD of hosts; and ye brought that which was torn, and the lame, and the sick; thus ye brought an offering: should I accept this of your hand? saith the LORD. Yes, the people back then thought that the things of God were a weariness, dull, dreary, or as it has been said, boring.

The Bible and the things of God are not boring to those who are spiritually minded and who are truly seeking the things above. The word of God is alive and powerful, the Hebrew writer said in ch.4:12, For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Yes, the Bible may be a boring dead book to the carnally minded, but not to those who love the Lord and what is right. The word of God dwells in us richly Paul said in Col.3:16. The Psalmist said the godly man's delight is in the law of the Lord, Psalm 1:2. His delight, does that sound like it was boring to him? Ever read the 119th Psalm? Out of the 176 verses, only about 8 verses don't mention the word of God in some way. The word of the Lord is extolled for it's many benefits to man. Is the Bible boring? Not to those who hearts are attuned to God.
